Wood is the original packaging choice for a reason: its classic look, durability, reusability, and limited carbon footprint. Great thought goes into the design of every box to ensure the best optimization of the material, use of electricity and delivery method.
Sustainable Material
EKAN is proud to use FSC certified material that is harvested from sustainable, well managed forests.
Birch Plywood
Birch plywood is our most economical material; it offers high strength to weight ratio and is used all over the world in kitchen cabinets due to the perfect veneer layers on the front and back. We used plywood from .125” - .75” thick based on your preference.
White Pine
White pine is a fantastic softwood, and it extremely lightweight and is what most wooden wine boxes are made from. All our pine is harvested within Canada from reforested and well managed properties.
Cherry
Cherry is a premium material which offers beautiful grain for more luxury products.
White Oak
Sourced from FSC certified forests, white oak is a heavy hardwood used for centuries for products that are made to last.
Black Walnut
Black walnut has incredible grain patterns making each box a natural work of art. Walnut is the highest end of our materials.
Green Manufacturing
- Utilizing CNC optimization and state of the art technology EKAN reduces waste wood
- Individual dust extraction for each machine is only used when required to reduce electric usage
- LED lighting in our facilities allows for great energy savings and lower carbon footprint
- All offcut material is used through our subsidiary company OFFCUT Conscious Goods.
Tree Planting
EKAN Concepts is committed to a sustainable future for everyone. We partner with Trees for the Future to plant one tree for every box we manufacture. This commitment offsets our carbon footprint and it helps empower rural groups to restore tree cover, protect the environment and preserve traditional livelihoods for future generations.
Reusable and Recyclable
Our products are not made to be thrown away, but rather upcycled and reused as planters or household containers. Should the need to discard arise, our boxes are recyclable and biodegrade quickly.
